You were having a cuppa You were reading a horoscope You weren't listening to a word I said I should know better by now! And I'm so small I search for a crack or a hole As the shadow stretches upward Through the plane of their soles Dig up your gays, bury your fears New moon in Pisces, new moon in Pisces And I'm a cut worm now My old body's laying away from me I tuck my innards in I grow a new tail And my brain grows a little more careful But I'm so small Can't get the words out anymore I feel so unintelligible The pain is unimaginable And the paradigm shift it splices New moon in Pisces, new moon in Pisces He said: There's nothing profound about it Some things just suck and that's the way it is There's nothing profound about it Some things just suck and that's the way it is

French Tuck! 03:08
French tuck! French tuck! French tuck! French tuck! I've been whispering my dreams to my computer at night ...and now it serves me ads about them The algorithm tells me who I really am, I tell the algorithm who I want to be They say "You gotta have your vape cos smoking kills!" My feed is comprised of cute dog memes and snuff films French tuck! French tuck! French tuck! French tuck! You're dating a .JPEG from the cursed images subreddit And I've had it up to here with your #HornyOnMain bullshit She says "Don't worry about it baby," but I'm not baby, THIS IS PATRICK And I plan on being a star so I need to be above these antics I take no responsibility, these folks can't be wrangled I'll stan all my musician friends until they get canceled French tuck! French tuck! French tuck! French tuck! Happiness is a pyramid scheme Happiness is a multi-level marketing company And we all came in too late! We all came in too late! They say "Think of the shows you wanna play when you get dressed" That's why I walk around covered in glitter strapped to the Tiny Desk They say "Fake it 'til you make It" so I'm producing a film Based on that Stephen King novel about the kids who fuck in the sewer I may look like a clown but I'm not having fun When you upload me to the cloud take my depression, but not my guns French tuck! French tuck! French tuck! French tuck!

Harbingers 06:12
THE OWLS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM Have you seen 'em? The big ring of light? The fire eyes? Children 5... You know? It fucks me up The way we're always headed towards whatever we're gonna be Things won't stay set Always breaking and reforming in remarkable, grotesque ways Could I look inside The kaleidoscope of mutagens you keep in your DNA? Could I cauterize All the carcinogens and toxins that made you warped this way? We live in strange and noisy times I'm always on your right As you pass me by as we're running from the hounds I sense your second thoughts About the way you came to meet me as the sky was falling down We always said If the world was gonna end we might as well be together We always said If the world was gonna end we might as well fight it together We always said If the world was gonna end we might as well go down together But now I wonder If we were apart if our chances for survival would be better I'm not sure what we're running from I'm not sure what we're hurtling towards I'm not sure what we're running from I'm not sure what we're hurtling towards Sometimes I'm not sure that I'll make it home Sometimes I'm not sure that I'll make it home Sometimes I'm not sure that I'll make it home Sometimes I'm not sure that I'll make it home Sometimes I'm not sure that I'll make it home Sometimes I'm not sure that I'll make it home Sometimes I'm not sure that I'll make it home Sometimes I'm not sure that I'll make it home Harbingers

Throw another coin in the fountain I'll be the dime in your wishing well Put another skull in its coffin Another dime in your wishing well I don't wanna live forever If my only love's already dead I don't wanna sleep with another Body in my bed I don't wanna be alone in bed I'll pass out on my floor instead I'll pass out on my floor instead I'll pass out on my floor Children 5 The last pillar of light The last pillar of light Children 5 The last pillar of light Pop another tab off your soda I'll be the dime in your wishing well Quick pave the cracks that you make in your molars Another dime in your wishing well Quick pacing stutters, lean back on the pavement That we should meet with this terrible fate Maybe our paths crossing was a mistake I want you to evolve but you just break Children 5 The last pillar of light The last pillar of light Children 5 The last pillar of light You and I are anomalies We shouldn't exist You're a drop of black in white And I'm bound to stir it I think I might've been born just to meet you I think I might've been born just to meet you I think I might've been born just to meet you But now you're gone, and I'm all alone

Philodendron 04:18
Come out your coma And rush out your bedroom Your catatonia's broken by the sound of Voices whispering cruel confessions That you could swear are coming from loved ones You brush your teeth As you teeter toward the window Constantly astounded By the day-to-day pain of it With Earth turned sour And the people turned to cannibals Wonder how you could possibly get used to this Ash starts falling And plants go grey And you start pining For gentler days Put on a pair of disintegrating All-Stars Wind through the empty rows of parked street cars Wonder where all the birds flew off to On the day when it all just went to shit I take her out for a walk, my Philodendron I've known this city since before it was necropolis I've known people who lived in all these buildings Before they became mausoleums She's feeling worse Than even she's used to She keeps drinking water But she's not in bloom She's feeling worse Than even she's used to She keeps drinking water But she's not in bloom She keeps drinking water But she's not in bloom She keeps drinking water But she's not in bloom She keeps drinking water But she's not in bloom

about

The Last Pillar of Light: The Debut Studio EP by The Unitaskers

This EP started as a song-a-month project in 2019. Needless to say it took way longer than expected.

Each of us took lead on individual tracks. They represent both our individual visions and our band and its most collaborative.

This release was written during some hard times and its apocalyptic nature reflects that. Who knew that subject would become more relevant in 2020?

We recorded this at Silver City Studios during a blizzard in January 2020. Everyone who worked on it, from the recording, mixing, mastering, and art, is a member of the Milwaukee music or arts scene without which this band would not exist to begin with.
